Primary Head Boy/Girl, Prefects and Ambassadors

At Bridge Learning Campus, our school is led by our head boy and girl from Year 6, deputies from Year 5 and a team of prefects from Year 4. Each class has an ambassador who will welcome visitors into their class and discuss their learning. The school council is represented by pupils from each year group. These roles are a vital part of our primary community, of which the student voice is highly valued.

Head boys and head girls are responsible for representing the school.  They also serve as a good role model for students, and share students’ ideas with the school’s leadership.  They may also be expected to lead fellow prefects and deputy head boy and girls in their duties.

The head boy and the head girl should share a passion and commitment for Bridge Learning Campus. They are the link between the students, staff and governors at Bridge Learning Campus. They demonstrate positive behaviours and act as role models for all years. The head boy and head girl support the school at events (such as parents evening, helping out with productions or extra-curricular events. They contribute to the effective running of the school, as directed by any staff member.  The head boy and head girl help to take responsibility as role models for younger students and help to ensure that the school is a safe and secure place for all students.

The head boy and head girl must have the ability to work productively with others, whilst using their initiative to contribute to the positive ethos of the school.  They will need to be organised, responsible, enthusiastic, and a great ambassador for the school. They must maintain excellent behaviour, uniform, attendance and punctuality.

What does a Head boy, Head girl, Deputy Head boy and Deputy Head girl look like?

We take many things into account when we are choosing our head girl and boy and the deputies including:

  • thoughtfulness and care for others
  • reliable
  • trustworthy
  • positive attitude to learning
  • good organisational skills
  • adaptability
  • good attendance
  • know the right thing to do and do it.
  • Be resilient
  • Show respect for others and school property
  • be responsible

Class ambassadors

A Student Ambassador is someone who enjoys meeting new people, encourages others to get involved and is happy to help answer any questions someone may have. They are always eager to help out; ensuring new arrivals settle in and meet any visitors to Bridge Learning Campus.

What does a Class Ambassador do?

  • Talk to visitors about what they are learning in the classroom
  • Be confident to speak to visitors
  • Be able to clearly explain their learning
  • Have a positive, enthusiastic approach to learning
  • Be smart and well presented
  • Be reliable

Each Class from Reception – Year 6 has an Ambassador. The Ambassador introduces themselves to visitors, explains their role and discusses the learning that is taking place in the classroom.

The Ambassador shows visitors around the classroom, looks at the books with visitors and discusses the learning, targets and displays. The ambassadors make visitors to our school feel welcome.

Class Ambassadors are excellent role models. They have good learning attitudes and they are able to speak confidently to visitors to their classrooms.

Year 4 prefects

The Year 4 prefects work alongside the Head boy, Head girl, Deputy Head boy and Deputy head girl.

The school prefects are responsible for ensuring that the school is tidy, students are following the three R’s and assist during transition time such as break and lunch. Prefects have a responsibility for ensuring the other students are safe in school and work together to be excellent hall monitors.

School prefects are excellent role models to all students at Bridge Learning Campus.
