PSHE Curriculum Overview: Secondary

At Bridge Learning Campus, our PSHE curriculum gives students the knowledge, understanding, attitudes, values and skills they need to lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives and to make a positive contribution to our school and wider community. Building on the foundations laid in our primary years, we encourage students to recognise their own worth, work well with others and take increasing responsibility for their own choices and learning.

From Year 7 to Year 11, we follow a carefully sequenced learning journey, teaching each topic in an age-appropriate way and revisiting it in greater depth as students mature. Our Learning Journey below shows what students study in each year group. In every year group, we also deliver a PREVENT safeguarding session that helps students recognise extremism and radicalisation and know where to turn for help.

Through discussion, reflection and a wide range of experiences, we support students to tackle the spiritual, moral, social and cultural questions that arise as they grow. We teach them to understand and respect British Values, diversity and difference, so that they can build healthy, respectful relationships and become confident, responsible members of society.

Our PSHE curriculum is shaped by the Department for Education’s statutory guidance. You can view the Learning Journey below and read the key guidance for families here:
